Stratacomm Wins Prestigious Silver Anvil Award
WASHINGTON, DC, June 8, 2012 – Stratacomm is proud to announce that the strategic communications firm won top honors at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) 2012 Silver Anvil Awards Ceremony in New York. The Silver Anvil award recognizes Stratacomm for crafting outstanding media, digital and social media programs promoting the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Decathlon competition, a biennial event that challenges collegiate teams to design, build and operate solar-powered houses that are affordable, energy efficient and attractive.
DOE engaged Stratacomm to help tell the story of these innovative student teams and educate Americans about cost-effective ways homeowners can use clean energy. Creative visuals and video, engaging QR codes, Foursquare and TweetChats, and a comprehensive approach to traditional and online media yielded widespread coverage and buzz about the competition:
- 2,200-plus total media stories, including multiple stories in the Washington Post (17), USA Today (4), New York Times (2) and Los Angeles Times (6)
- 500 television stories worldwide and nearly 100 radio interviews
- Facebook fans increased by 289% and Twitter following increased by 588%
- 490,000 YouTube channel views and 500,000 Flickr photo views
- Over 350,000 house visits from the public during the event

PRSA had selected 143 finalists out of 923 entries this year― Stratacomm received the Silver Anvil Award in the Government Events and Observances category.
