Motivating Motorists to Change Their Routes

Stratacomm developed and implemented a multifaceted and resonant campaign to urge drivers to stay away from the Wilson Bridge corridor. Branded “Mission Possible-Keeping You Moving,” the campaign featured prominent news story placements, creative ads on targeted traditional and online media and stakeholder outreach to trucking associations, motor coach operators and other long-distance travelers.

Building Support for Building Big

Highways and other transportation facilities serve as the circulatory system of a thriving society.  Yet where they are needed most – populated areas whose continued growth is threatened by inadequate mobility – frequently is where opposition typically is fiercest.  When new projects are debated, opponents who are small in number but highly organized, media savvy and smart on process often prevail over larger but less ardent supporters.

Now more than ever, the success or failure of large projects rests on a strategic understanding of the political, environmental, economic and social landscapes unique to each project.   Keenly understanding what motivates key external audiences is essential to engaging them in a meaningful dialogue that fosters trust, credibility and consensus.

Over the past decade, Stratacomm has enjoyed substantial success in helping our clients proactively communicate with a variety of audiences whose opinions are consequential in whether a project moves forward or founders.  These include elected officials, traditional and social media, the business community, special interest groups and others.  We specialize in moving major projects off planning maps and into public use.

The Stratacomm team is steeped in transporation and infrastructure public policy, the firm leaders having served in the White House, U.S. Department of Transportation, Capitol Hill, and transportation trade associations in Washington, DC.
